$500 does sound like a lot of money for the full share.  But when you break that down over the twenty week season, it is $3.57 a day.  For the cost of a fast food sandwich, your family can eat our minutes-fresh vegetables each day of the week for twenty weeks.  To me, that in itself is a great deal.  So even if you only factor in the box delivery, it is a good deal.

The full share CSA entitles you to attend seven harvest events on our farm.  They are part of your CSA full share.  You have already paid to attend them when you got your full share. And,  if you attend the farm events and gather the harvest for your winter months, so one day, you eat green beans that you froze from our bean harvest, the next day you have stir fry from the pea pods you harvested during the pea pick, another day tomatoes you canned from the tomato harvest days and you continuously enjoy the pickles you canned from the bushel of pickling cucumbers you gathered, the  cost of your CSA Full share goes down to  $1.36 a day!!    So that means for the cost of a very small bag of Cheetos each day, you can have minutes fresh, nutrient-dense vegetables year round!! 

If you attend, for example, the pea pick on a weekend in early July,  let's say you pick light.  You only pick ten pounds of pea pods for winter stir fry.  At our stands, we sell them for $3.00 per pound.  By your picking of pea pods, you just saved $30.00.  Suppose you only pick ten pounds of sugar snap as well.  They are also three dollars a pound so you saved another thirty dollars.  And if you stay and pick twenty pounds of shelling peas, the value you save doing that is $45.00.  In attending the pea pick alone, you gathered $105 in produce, connected with our farm, made a memory and stocked up for the long winter!!  Not bad for a CSA membership!!

But then there's also the pickling cucumber pick, the bean pick, the sweet corn harvest, the herb pick, the tomato pick and the fall harvest pick.  (These are all explained in detail under "How it works".)  When you join our CSA, our farm really does become YOUR FARM!!

So is our CSA affordable???  We'll let you be the judge.
